Investor in People
At Maidstone Housing Trust we believe that people are our greatest asset – you will be at the heart of our business and our success depends on getting the best from you. That is why we are committed to developing our people by investing in a well-trained and motivated workforce. Showing our commitment to this, we have recently achieved our IIP accreditation in March 2007.
First Things First
We have a well developed induction programme for all new colleagues – the G8Way Programme. It’s designed to give you the information and skills you need to help you settle into your new job quickly and efficiently and also to support you if you are new to the Housing sector.
Once your start date with Maidstone Housing Trust has been confirmed, we will automatically book you onto your induction sessions so that you can make any necessary arrangements.
Annual Appraisal
You will have an annual appraisal with your direct line manager. As well as reviewing your performance over the previous year, this will be an opportunity to formulate a personal development plan and discuss career aspirations.
Professional Development
We actively encourage our colleagues to work towards professional or vocational qualifications and we will also pay professional subscriptions. Time off for exams and study leave is also supported.
Personal Development Grant
There is an annual grant of £50 available to all colleagues to support their personal development outside of work too – this can be spent on any course you want from flower arranging to scuba diving!!
Knowledge Sharing
We encourage colleagues with specialist knowledge and skills to share it with others. This is supported through informal bite-sized briefings.
Training Courses
Training needs are generally identified at your annual appraisal, although you’re free to make requests to your line manager at any time.
Acting-Up Opportunities
From time to time, opportunities arise for individuals to act-up into more senior positions. Under the guidance of more experienced colleagues, new managers and team leaders have the opportunity to practise and develop their skills.
Management Development
We recognise the important contribution managers make to developing our people. We run a number of in-house management development courses to ensure that our managers are properly equipped for their role as people developers.
