Maidstone Housing Trust has celebrated UK Older People’s Day with an afternoon of entertainment for older residents. Over sixty residents gathered at Hardwick House in Maidstone to enjoy comedy, music and refreshments.

Alongside the tea and cakes, guests took part in a consultation to help the Trust plan future community events and activities involving older people. Suggestions put forward include exercise classes, learning computer skills and activities with local young people.

Head of Community Development, Caroline McBride, said “We’re delighted so many people joined us this afternoon. We are celebrating the contribution older people make to our community, and challenging ourselves and our residents to update our image of ageing.”

This is the second UK Older People’s Day and events are taking place across the UK.
