Trust staff take to the streets on Walkabout Wednesdays

Maidstone Housing Trust staff are trying a new way to work with customers.
Once a month, teams from the Trust will go out on a ‘Walkabout Wednesday’, spending the afternoon knocking on doors and speaking to customers, and carrying out small works like litter picks.
Anne Chapman, Tenancy Services Manager and coordinator of the project, said “We want to make a difference in our local communities through working closely with our customers. We want to go out and hear what our tenants and leaseholders want rather than wait for them to come to us. In this way we hope to spot potential problems before they occur. We hope to build on existing relationships in our communities while forging new ones.”
Walkabout Wednesdays involve staff from across the Trust and will take place on the first Wednesday of the month. .A pilot scheme in areas of Parkwood, Marden and Maidstone town centre is expected to be expanded to more areas in the Autumn.
