Mr & Mrs Taylor of Coxheath near Maidstone are the 3000th Maidstone Housing Trust tenants to have a new kitchen installed since February 2004. The Trust celebrated this achievement with a presentation of new kitchen gifts.

Kitchen refurbishments include remodelling, replacement of cupboards, worktops, tiling and flooring, rewiring and new plumbing, and customers have a choice of colours and finishes. The 3000 kitchens are part of a £25 million home improvements programme which will bring all of the Trusts houses up to the Governments Decent Homes standard by 2010.

Chief Executive Peter Stringer said “Fitting three thousand new kitchens in under four years is an amazing achievement, and seeing how pleased Mr & Mrs Taylor are gives some idea of the massive impact this programme is having in homes across Maidstone”.

Maidstone Housing Trust took over the ownership and management of 6300 homes in February 2004, following a positive vote by tenants. The home improvements work has been carried out by Trust staff with partner contractors Crispin & Borst, EPS and Mears Ltd.
