Maidstone Residents Group will represent all
![]() |
The Trust’s formal consultation body have changed their name to Maidstone Residents Group (MRG) at their Annual General Meeting on 22 November 2006. Formerly the Tenants Consultative Forum, members wanted a more inclusive name, to reflect their aim to represent the views and interests of all residents.
At the meeting new officers were elected for the coming year,
Chairperson: Ken Stevens
Vice-Chairperson: Edina Williams
Treasurer: Rosaline Dean
Secretary / Event Organiser: Elizabeth Stevens
Health & Safety Officer: Graham Damms
Following extensive consultation, the group also adopted a new constitution. The group has been increasingly involved in monitoring our services and the development of new policies and practices. Members wanted a constitution that reflects their enhanced role and objectives.
MRG aims to
- Promote and represent the interests of all residents in Maidstone Housing Trust’s areas of operation
- Raise resident awareness of the role of the association and actively promote involvement and membership
- Act as the recognised resident representative body for the Trust
- Work with the Trust and other organisations and authorities for the benefit of all residents
- Work with others to provide community facilities for the benefit of all residents, including young people, and promote social inclusion
and to work in partnership with the Trust to
- Develop and review an effective tenant / resident participation strategy
- Develop an effective role and voice in Best Value reviews of Trust policies and procedures relating to allocations, empty homes, estate management, rents, repairs, regeneration and development
- Actively improve the levels and quality of services delivered by the Trust, by monitoring key contracts such as repairs, ground maintenance, horticulture and gas servicing
- Actively work with the Trust and partner agencies to deal with quality of life issues such as anti-social behaviour, social inclusion and poverty
The constitution is available to download here as a PDF file (this will open in a new window), or call the Resident Involvement team on 01622 2122537.
A reception before the formal business of the AGM celebrated the achievements of the Tenants Consultative Forum. TCF members, Trust staff, Board Members, contractors and Trust Plus Rewards winners were represented. Presentations were made to the winners of the Glorious Gardens competition.
