Maidstone Housing Trust receives planning permission for second major regeneration scheme
Maidstone Housing Trust has secured planning permission for a major regeneration scheme in the Coombe Farm area of Maidstone. Work will soon begin to demolish 144 houses in Coombe Road and replace them with 164 modern homes. The new homes will include a mix of affordable rented and low cost home ownership.
Detailed planning permission for the £23.5m scheme was granted by Maidstone Borough Councils Planning committee at a meeting on Thursday 2 November.
The Trust has already re-housed residents from the area due for the first phase of re-development. Tenants are moved to other Trust properties during the work and have the right to return to the area when the development is completed.
Chief Executive Peter Stringer said, “I’m pleased that work to regenerate Coombe Road can begin. Three years ago we promised our tenants that we would improve the Coombe Farm estate and Park Wood. Tenants began moving into the first new Park Wood homes this month and I am delighted that we are delivering our promises in Coombe Farm”
