Maidstone Housing Trust celibrates good neighbours
A new competition to reward good neighbours celebrated its first winner this week. Maidstone Housing Trust launched the search for good neighbours to recognise the unsung heroes of communities in and around Maidstone.
Jean Ashford from Lenahm won the competition after a number of her neighbours nominated her for the selfless way she supports them. Jean collects shopping and prescriptions for many living near her and even looks after the local wildlife.

Mark Barnes, Director of Housing, commented "So often we only hear bad news about the areas we live in. The response to our Good Neighbour award has been very encouraging. It's great to know there are so many people who care about their community and value their neighbours."
Mrs Ashford received a certificate and £50 cheque, and nine runners-up received a certificate at a summer garden party to celebrate their achievement. The Maidstone Housing Trust Good Neighbour award is open to all Maidstone Housing Trust tenants; there will be four awards per year.
