Who can become a member?
If you are a tenant/leaseholder of Maidstone Housing Trust then you may have the right to apply for membership*.
What does membership mean?
Maidstone Housing Trust wants to involve tenants/residents in the management of the Trust. Membership gives you a vote in important decisions.
As a Member you will:
- have the right to attend and vote at Annual General Meetings;
- Receive the Annual Report and accounts;
- Have the opportunity to vote on any changes to the Trust's constitution; and
- Receive a Member's certificate.
What do I do to become a member?
Complete the Membership Application Form. Your application will then be considered at a Board Meeting of the Trust. If successful we will send you a letter confirming your membership and enclosing a Membership Certificate.
About Maidstone Housing Trust
The Trust owns and 6,200 rented homes, 38 shops and 2,014 garages. The Trust received the transfer of these properties from Maidstone Borough Council in 2004 following a successful tenant ballot.
Getting Involved
The Trust believes that tenants and leaseholders have a right to be involved in decisions that effect their homes and communities. There are many other ways of getting involved:
- Join your local Tenants and Residents Association
- Represent your area on the Tenants Consultative Forum
- Become an Estate Champion
- Join a group monitoring Trust services
- Become a member of the Customer Talkback Panel

*The Small Print
Membership is generally accepted from tenants and leaseholders who:
- Have returned a signed copy of their Tenancy/Lease Agreement
The following cannot normally become members:
- Councillors and senior staff of Maidstone Borough Council or companies controlled by the council
- Tenants/Leaseholders under notice or in breach of their tenancy/lease agreement; and
- Persons under 18 years of age
