John Barned Chairman Tenant Board Member
John BarnedJohn has been a tenant for 7 years and was previously involved with local Tenant/Resident Groups from 1988 to 1997. A former Housing Assistant of Ashford Council and a Housing Officer for 2 Housing Associations. John was an Estate Manager for Maidstone Council for 5 years. John is currently working as a Customer Involvement Officer with Hyde Housing.
Stephen Beerling Council Nominee Board Member
Stephen BeerlingStephen attended Ashford Grammar School and served 10 years in the Royal Navy. He has worked for the Royal British Legion Industries and Department of Employment. After college Stephen became a Civil Engineering Site Manager. He was elected as a Borough Councillor May 2006 election. Stephen has always lived in Maidstone and is a former Council Tenant and chair of Residents Association. Stephen was previously a member of the Community Health Council and has worked as an advocate for disabled people in the voluntary sector. His interests include angling and country pursuits.
Steve Bromley Vice Chairman Independent Board Member
Steve BromleySteve runs an IT Consultancy firm specialising in the provision of services to social housing providers. As a former Head of Finance with Kelsey Housing Association, he has extensive experience of all aspects of financial management within housing associations including treasury management, budget preparation, statutory and management account production, internal auditing, negotiation of development finance with major lenders, negotiation of long-term funding with major lenders to the housing movement. Steve also has experience in producing policies and procedures and dealing with statutory and advisory bodies including the Housing Corporation, Communities Scotland, NHF, SFHA. Steve has worked in the social housing sector for almost 20 years.
Peter Budgen Independent Board Member
Peter BudgenPeter is a retired IT Computer Company owner/Director. He runs a disability access company. He is a past member of High Weald, Swale HA, and Habinteg HA. Peter was a British Polio Fellowship representative on the former Maidstone Borough Council Disability Advisory Committee. Peter has designed and implemented property management systems for various HAs including Hyde, PCHA, WKHT, Jephson Homes. He has been involved with housing associations for the past 25 years.
Jenny Gibson Council Nominee Board Member
Jenny GibsonJenny has been a Councillor of Maidstone Borough Council for 20 years, and a Parish Councillor of Headcorn for 24 years. She is a retired primary school teacher and is a Governor of Headcorn Primary School. A member the old Maidstone Borough Council Housing Committee for many years, she is now a member of External Overview and Scrutiny Committee and a member of the Licensing Committee. Jenny is a member of Park Wood Plus and former member of Community Health Council. Jenny was Mayor of Maidstone 1997-98.
Blair Gulland Independent Board Member
Blair GullandA Solicitor, ACIArb, Blair is Managing Partner of Gullands, Solicitors. He is also an National Executive Member of Almshouse Association, Chairman of Governors of Kent Music, Trustee of Museum of Kent Life, Trustee of Maidstone Trust, Clerk of Cutbush and Corrall Charity. Former Chairman and Member of Hazlitt Housing Association.
Bob Hinder Councillor Board Member
Bob has been a Maidstone Borough Councillor since May 2008.He is also a Parish Councillor for Boxley Ward and the village of Bredhurst. He has taught at secondary level for forty years and is still lecturing three days a week at a Technology College. He was Grammar School educated and served eight years in the Royal Navy as an engineer. Other careers included employment as an Insurance Consultant with the Pearl Insurance Company and a brief but very enjoyable spell working on BRM Formula One racing cars. He entered the teaching profession in 1968. He serves as a substitute member of the Planning Committee, a member of the Environment Scrutiny Committee and the Joint Transportation Board. He has a particular interest in the welfare of the elderly and disabled and devoting much time and energy towards the youth establishments outside of his commitments within the classroom..
Alasdair Johnston Independent Board Member
Alasdair JohnsonAlasdair is a Chartered Surveyor and manages the Development Department of Wandle Housing Association in South West London. He is a Board Member of both Swale Housing Association and London Strategic Housing (a specialist, London-based Key Worker Association) and is a member of Network Housing Group's Audit Committee. Alasdair's family home has been in the Maidstone area since the 1950s.
Dayo Ogunseye Independent Board Member
Dayo OgunseyeDayo is a Chartered Certified Accountant, FCCA and holds an MBA from CASS Business School, City University London.
He currently works as the Group Tax Manager for Bosch in the UK and has held various senior accounting, financial management and financial planning roles in both the private and public sector.
In particular, he has extensive experience in development finance and social housing financial regulation through his previous roles working for the Housing Corporation.
Daphne Parvin Council Nominee Board Member
Daphne ParvinDaphne moved to Maidstone in 1963 with her family. She did voluntary work in a welfare clinic, and opened and ran the Park Wood Playgroup for 8 years, before moving into nursing. Since joining Maidstone Borough Council in 1984 she has served on most committees. Her main interests are Health and the Environment. Daphne is currently a Trustee of the Cutbush and Correll Charity, a member of the Relief in need Charity, Chair of the Brenchley Trust Maidstone Museum, Chair of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Advisory Group, and a Board member of AONB Joint Board. Her interests include wildlife, her pet cats, children and grandchilden, and the welfare of Maidstone as a whole.
 
Sarah Pinks Tenant Board Member
Sarah PinksSarah has two nursing qualifications and has worked in a senior role for a community health trust. She has also worked in curriculum development for BECTA (British Education Communications and Technology Agency), and been involved in training adults for health care roles. Sarah has recently been Chair of the national parent support charity Serene, worked as a volunteer on a 24-hour helpline, and co-founded and run a number of family projects and initiatives in Kent. She has lived in the area for 8 years, and been a tenant of the Trust for 18 months.
Neville Rhodes Tenant Board Member
Neville Rhodes
Neville has been a Maidstone Housing Trust tenant for one year, and a Maidstone resident for 28 years. He now lives in sheltered housing, following the loss of one leg last year. Neville is a retired, very highly qualifed engineer, and in this capacity travelled widely, world wide. For eight years he lived in South Africa. Neville has a wide experience of dealing with National and Local Government at all levels, and was seconded to the Royal Navy from 1963 to 1970 as their consultant in Refuse Collection & Disposal at Sea. He holds a number of professional qualifications including Associate of the Institute of Public Cleansing. Neville has been employed as a consultant on refuse disposal with various authorities, ranging from Moscow to Cape Town, Ottowa to Hong Kong. He has been employed as a Senior Executive with a number of engineering companies in both the private and public sector and trusts he will be able to bring his experience to the Board's decisions to the benefit of tenants.
Patrick Sellar Council Nominee Board Member
Patrick SellarPatrick is married to Jenny, and they have two daughters and four grand-daughters. Patrick spent twelve years in a religious teaching order, working in Manchester, Cardiff and Newbury. After this he taught in London and Canterbury, and was Headmaster for 12 years in Deal and West Malling, followed by regular supply teaching in many schools in and around Maidstone. He was appointed Music Director at the Aylesford Camelite Priory in 1990, which was a continuation of a lifetime in organising music making in churches, schools, choral societies and community groups, mainly based in Kent. In 1996 Patrick was elected as a Maidstone Borough Councillor for the East ward and has been chairman of the Licensing Committees for most of the last six years. In 2000 Patrick was awarded the medal "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" ("For the Church and the Pope"), from Pope John Paul II, in recognition of his work in education and church music.
