OUR VISION

  • A landlord and employer of choice, recognised for delivering what we promise.
  • A professional organisation people are proud to be part of.
  • Known and valued wherever we work, for the quality of our homes and services.
  • A partner of choice, working with others to make a difference to homes and to the quality of life in the communities we work in.
  • A ‘Can do, Will do, Have done’ organisation.

At Maidstone Housing Trust we understand that where and how we live is a fundamental part of who we are. Our mission clearly sets out that we exist “to provide affordable homes and to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.”

We want to go further than this; our vision leads us to be better, to be excellent, in everything we do. This vision is a work in progress; this Annual Report sets out how we are realising our vision with our partners and most importantly our customers.

Over the last year we have endeavoured to provide the highest quality affordable homes. It has been a year of development, refurbishment, improvement and creativity. Families have now moved into their new homes at our major £23m regeneration project in Bell Road, Park Wood. At our second major regeneration project in Coombe Road, work continues apace on Phase One, creating more new homes.

Improving the quality of life for our customers and communities has been a key focus for us. We have continued to deliver on our transfer promises to customers to bring their homes up to the Government’s Decent Homes Standard, completing 3374 kitchen and 2897 bathroom refurbishments since February 2004. We understand that just ‘doing the work’ is not enough though. For us it is essential that our customers have a choice about their home. We offer a wide selection of colours and styles for fixtures and fittings, and will work to accommodate individual needs.

Where you live is not just about the space inside four walls. This year we have increased our focus on our broader community work. Working in partnership with other agencies we are providing safer, cleaner streets. We have provided our Residents Resource Centre; a place for community groups to meet for training, focus groups, task groups, or just for information over a welcome cup of coffee.

We continue to work collaboratively with local people, communities and agencies to reach our goals. Through sharing best practice we believe we are making a difference to our customers and the wider community, and are proud of our achievements. As we head towards the end of our five year promises period we are excited to be looking to the future.
